Divine Power

The gods do not have the power to directly affect the mortal plane. Humanity is seen as a vessel to enact a god's will, and to assist in that, are occasionally granted power in some way, in some amount. Any power granted from a god is called divine power.

Divine power is defined as any enhancement, augmentation, or change to someone or something due to being upgraded by one of the gods. In terms of strength, divine power often trumps over elemental magic, though the extent of that varies wildly.

Blessed Equipment

The most common form of divine power is when a god imbues some of their power into a weapon. Though often a small percentage of their power, blessed equipment is noticeably stronger than conventional weaponry.

At a base level, blessed weapons will increase the physical damage done through an attack. Depending on the god, different equipment will provide different/additional benefits, such as elemental gods providing a magic boost to their type.

Blessed equipment is typically created to bolster the military of a kingdom who worships a god. Highly-trusted knights with a long-standing reputation are commonly granted a blessed weapon in exchange for their continued service.

As a general rule, it is far more difficult for a god to revoke power from the mortal plane than to give it, so blessed equipment generally starts losing its power when it’s been put into the wrong hands, though this can take awhile, sometimes up to several weeks.

Cursed Equipment

As the name implies, cursed equipment is a riskier alternative to using divine power. The main difference between blessed and cursed equipment is that using it grants some form of negative ailment. This can be as minor as weakening oneself over time, up to something like diminishing your own lifespan with each swing.

The main way cursed equipment is created is when blessed equipment is given to someone who isn’t considered a rightful owner. If a god is unable to strip the power away, it’ll become cursed.

Though riskier, cursed equipment can have greater upsides. Almost all of the most powerful individuals in the mortal plane are using at least one piece of cursed equipment. However, the longer an item has been cursed for, the worse the effects generally become.
