Considered the best lighting user in the greater overworld (and possibly one of the greatest combat mages currently alive), Eirlys is a high-ranking solider in the central kingdom. She earns the nickname the "Reaper" due to her signature scythe, and being both quick and deadly, nearly impossible to escape her during a hunt.
With her wide, powerful abilities, Eirlys exists as a strange fighter that performs best when fighting alone, forcing her to constantly run the line between self-sabotage and playing to her strengths.
Background
During her time training to be a knight, Eirlys went through extensive training with her lighting affinity. She has developed good control with her bolt output, allowing her to save on mana without losing on the power that comes from lighting magic. Additionally, her training has allowed her to develop resistance to the burnout that comes from magic overuse, allowing her to fight for longer than most other lighting users.
Apperance
Though soliders in the central kingdom had strict guidelines they had to follow, Eirlys's minor infractions were often ignored simply due to how valuable she was. This was most evident in her standard attire, where she stripped out most of the armor she was given in favour of simply using chainmail underneath her clothes.
In general, Eirlys opts for coolness over function:
- The only pieces remaining of plate armor she wears are on or nearby her chest and dominant arm.
- There are several items/bits Eirlys carries that she rarely uses, but keeps to make her outfit asymmetrical.
- She uses a short cloak because "it flaps in the wind."

To say that Eirlys is a prodigy would be an understatement, as despite what the stats may show, Eirlys is not just a good combatant– she is a threateningly oppressive one.
Eirlys's mastery of her lighting affinity is leagues above any other user, being one of the few that can reliably control her own output. This not only allows her to control the battlefield, but survive in extended fights. All of this combines terrifingly with her scythe– a custom built machine that she uses as a channel for wind magic, creating a dual-elemental fighting style that not only hits hard, but comes at you before you have a chance to react.
Footnotes
Eirlys's endurance is difficult to gauge, because she rarely gets hurt at all in the overwhelming majority of her fights. Nothing about her suggests any abnormal resilience, which led to the average ranking.
Internal research conducted by the kingdom had discovered that Eirlys consumes a noticably higher about of mana when performing wind spells compared to lighting spells of the same caliber (keeping in mind the fundamental cost differential), suggesting that she only has a lighting affinity. It is unclear how she can perform so well with her reliance on wind magic.
(Attempts were made to understand her mana flow discrepency, but she was provoked when pushed about it. I personally would recommend we leave this one alone– I'm already writing this damn report with a black eye.)
Weapon/Companion - Adelaide (Adi)
Eirlys main weapon and companion is Adelaide, a custom-built scythe imbued with the soul of her girlfriend of the same name. She can exist between two forms– as the scythe, or as a ghost-like form near Eirlys.
Personality-wise, Adelaide is very quiet, rarely opening up to others. She predominantly talks to Eirlys, though can communicate with others through her.
Using her girlfriend's soul, Eirlys has the ability to use wind magic in combat. Because the wind magic comes from Adalaide itself and not her, it gives Eirlys two mana reserves to work with. Eirlys uses this to act as a wind user, avoiding taking direct blows by maintaining distance and pressuring others to back off.
Elemental Affinity - Lightning
During her time training to be a knight, Eirlys went through extensive training with her lighting affinity. She has developed good control with her bolt output, allowing her to save on mana without losing on the power that comes from lighting magic. Additionally, her training has allowed her to develop resistance to the burnout that comes from magic overuse, allowing her to fight for longer than most other lighting users.
Fighting Style
As a natural-born prodigy, Eirlys almost always treats fights casually. Additionally, her time in military training has trained her to conserve her energy whenever possible.
In a casual fight, she'll almost exclusively use Adelaide, with excessive wind magic to blast her opponents away. Eirlys avoids fighting when needed, so she'll often default to this style. As a side effect, she's typically seen as weak when abusing wind magic.
When focused, Eirlys uses the full extent of Adelaide, switching from a long-distance zoner focused on keeping distance, to an aggressive rusher that flanks and sneaks in attacks.
Given a situation where she needs to exert her full strength alongside the space to do so– usually when she is alone, with no allies near her– Eirlys will fight as a dual elemental, using both lighting and wind magic. When using lighting magic, she focuses on instant elimination using maximum output casting. Fighting like this grants her near-uncontestable power, but significantly reduces her stamina, requiring her to end a fight quickly or risk running out of energy.
