Soul Contracts

A soul contract is commitment between two or more parties to perform specific duties or actions, similar to a written or verbal contract. However, unlike a physical contract, a soul contract is defined by all parties using parts of their soul as collateral, severely increasing the stakes for a broken contract.

Soul contracts work by using one or several gods to “contain” the parts of soul used as collatoral. Once the requirements of the contract have been met, the power is automatically returned to all parties.

The majority of gods willingly agree to perform Soul contracts due to lack of risk for them, alongside getting a minor increase in power while the contract is active. This process has been automated to the point where a Soul contract can be made without a god's input, as long as at least one party is connected to one.

Soul contracts come with a minor debuff in someone's mana manipulation power, though this isn't often an issue unless someone has a dozen contracts active at once.

Non-Combative

This Soul contract tends to be pretty simple– no physical violence.

Bindings

Soul Binding is a rare technique that allows Souls to transfer power between one another.

This contract works by making a connection between Souls directly in the ethereal plane. From this connection, soul power can be transferred to other souls, either by someone giving it, or one taking. As the name implies, this contract figuratively glues two souls together in a way that makes it difficult for them to be separated. Individuals in a soul binding contract cannot be a significant physical distance away, as after a certain point, their Soul will start disconnecting from their body, weakening their magic.

A prime example of a soul binding is between Lucien and Serenity. As Lucien isn't a sorcerer, he's able to lend most of his Soul power to Serenity, giving her a major power boost during fights.

Though theoretically powerful, Soul Binding is almost never used in practice as it essentially demands that you put your strength into someone else's hand. If it is used, it's only really used between two people.
